Students will acquire an ability to apply mathematical foundations, algorithmic principles and computer science theory in the modeling and design of computer based systems in a way that demonstrates comprehension of the tradeoffs involved in design choices.

Outcome (j) contributes to objective 2.

Assessment

Vehicle: Examinations and assignments in CSCI 3310

Goal: At least 70% of students who passed CSCI 3310 received Satisfactory or Good on each of the following measures.

  1. Selection of an appropriate data structure in order to solve a specified problem. (rubric)

  2. Knowledge of abstract data types. (rubric)

  3. Ability to determine the runtime complexity of given samples of code using the O( ) notation. (rubric)
