Logging into Xlogin Using NX with the VPN

Get two pieces of software.

1. Get the NX client from NoMachine.

2. Get the Cisco AnyConnect client from ECU at student virtual private network.

Now

1. Start the VPN software and log into the student VPN. The VPN host address is piratesvpn.ecu.edu. Your id and password are the same as your piratemail id and password. If you care, see why do I need to use the VPN?

2. Start NX and create a profile. You only need to create a profile once. After that, just click on that profile to get going.

3. Start NX if it is not already started. Skip the first page by pressing continue. Click on the profile that you created. Give your id and password. They are the same as your pirateid and password.

   You will need to press ok a few times to get to the Gnome desktop.

Creating an NX profile

Skip the first page by pressing continue. Press new to create a new profile. Use the following settings.

• Protocol: NX
• Host: xlogin.cs.ecu.edu
• Port: 4000
• Authentication: password
• Don't use proxy
• Choose a name for the profile. The name is your choice.
