An understanding of professional, ethical, legal, security and social issues and responsibilities.

Outcome (e) contributes to objective 4.

Assessment

Vehicle: Based on assignments, projects and the final exam in CSCI 4000, the instructor will keep a record of students scores according to each of the following measures, following the listed rubrics. The instructor will also record samples of good, satisfactory and unsatisfactory student work.

Goal: At least 70% of students who passed CSCI 4000 received Satisfactory or Good on the following questions and measures.

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the ACM or IEEE professional code of ethics. (rubric)

  2. Demonstrate an understanding of the ethical dimensions of a situation involving computing and information technology. (rubric)

  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the legal dimensions of a situation involving computing and information technology. (rubric)

  4. Demonstrate an understanding of the security issues of a situation involving computing and information technology. (rubric)

  5. Demonstrate an understanding of the social issues and responsibilities of a situation involving computing and information technology. (rubric)
