Strategic Proposal for Education and Research in Biomedical Engineering & Medical Informatics. I have proposed a package of education and research in medical informatics and biomedical engineering to the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at UOIT to be considered as one of the strategic plans for the Faculty. This proposal fosters collaborations among the closely related engineering fields, including software engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering, as well as Faculties of Health Sciences, Science, and Business & IT.
( Web Site ) Graduate Program Development. I have been a co-developer and co-director of the inter-disciplinary program MSc eHealth at McMaster University (2007-2010), among three faculties: Health Sciences, Engineering, and Business, with collaboration of Dr. Norm Archer (De-Groote School of Business), Dr. Ann McKibbon (Faculty of Health Sciences) and myself (Faculty of Engineering). I developed a new graduate course CAS/eHealth 757 "Modern Software Technology for eHealth" ( Web Site ) as one of the three core courses in this program.
( PDF ) Software Engineering Program Framework. I proposed a framework for improvement of the software engineering program at UOIT, which organizes the software engineering curriculum into categories, such as: Engineering Commons; Foundations; Programming Languages; Algorithms; Design and Development; Systems; Applications; and Practice. This framework has been included in the UOIT's Software Engineering Undergraduate Program Review Self-Study Report of March 2013 as the vision of this program.
Program Option in Cloud Software Engineering. I have initiated a new program option (Mobile & Cloud Software Engineering) for the Software Engineering program. To assess this option, in Winter 2014, I offered a new course ("Special Topics in Software Engineering -- Cloud") based on a similar course developed the University of California, Berkeley (MOOC). The course offers a set of advanced technologies for developing software as a service (SaaS) that are suitable for deployment in cloud environments.
( PDF ) Laboratory Development. Based on my proposal for developing "New Software Design and Development Lab" at the Center for Leadership and Learning at McMaster University I was awarded a grant to develop 10 (3-hour) lab sessions in which the students are systematically trained in different phases of design and development of an Automatic Banking Machine.
