Study Guide for the Spring 2004 Final
Exam
The exam has three sections:
- Permutations (Exam I)
- Logic (Exam II)
- Sets and Counting
To review for the final, you should
- Review the study guide for Exam I
- Review Exam I
- Review the study guide for Exam II
- Review Exam II
- Review your homeworks, particularly the questions that were scored
- Review the quizzes
- Review the two counting worksheets
The questions on the exam regarding sets will
be similar to homework questions and the quizzes,
and will contain at least one of the quiz problems,
exactly as you have already seen it.
The questions on the exam regarding counting will
come straight from the two worksheets, except for
one new question regarding the number of ways to
make a sandwich if you can have any number of
condiments. For example, suppose you wish to
make a cheese sandwich. You have three kinds
of cheese and five kinds of condiment available.
To make a sandwich you select one of the cheeses
and any combination of the condiments. Can you
see why there are 96 different possible sandwiches
that can be made?
